State of Mineral Finance 2018 |
PDAC released its State of Mineral Finance 2018 report, detailing financing dynamics for the mineral exploration and mining sector since 2011. Financing and activity levels within the mineral industry have followed commodity price trends, improving in recent years from low points reached in 2015. S-IMEW 2018 comes to a close |
The 12th annual Student-Industry Mineral Exploration Workshop (S-IMEW) took place in Sudbury, Ontario from May 3-17. Bringing together 26 students from across Canada, they participated in a combination of lectures, field exercises, site visits and networking events. Highlights included a mine tour 2.8 km underground at Agnico Eagle’s La Ronde mine; a surface and underground tour at Nickel Rim South; mapping exercises with Wallbridge mining, |

the Ontario Geological Survey and Probe Metals; and a day spent in Cobalt, Ontario learning about cobalt exploration. Take a visual journey of the students’ two-week adventure. |

Improving data to increase discoveries |
PDAC’s Exploration Assessment Digital Data Formats (EADDF) guidelines help improve discovery rates of mineral exploration in Canada, and propose a uniform national standard for digital-data submission for jurisdictional mine recording offices. While each jurisdiction has its own formatting requirements, there are few for data that is submitted in digital form. Learn more |
