Industry Survey
Fraser Institute’s annual survey of mining companies
In 2017 the survey rated 91 jurisdictions around the world based on their geologic attractiveness for minerals and metals, and how government policies encourage or deter exploration and investment. To take part in the 2018 survey, provide your title and institution to [email protected] to be added to the list of potential survey recipients.

Capital Markets
Present at the PDAC 2019 Convention

Proposals are being requested for sessions in the Capital Markets Program (CMP) at the PDAC 2019 Convention. The CMP is intended to create a forum for dialogue on a range of topics related to financing, with a focus on financing for mineral exploration and access to capital—the lifeblood of exploration. If you have an idea for a session, please send your proposal to [email protected] by August 3.

State of Mineral Finance 2018
PDAC released its State of Mineral Finance 2018 report, detailing financing dynamics for the mineral exploration and mining industry since 2011. Financing and activity levels within the mineral industry have followed commodity price trends, improving in recent years from low points reached in 2015. Yet despite apparent improvements, both financing opportunities and activity levels remain well below peaks realized in 2011. Read the report

Human Resource Development
Identifying shortages to meet demands

Geology, engineering and environmental science professionals are retiring at a faster rate than they are being recruited and trained. Laurentian University and James Cook University (Australia) are conducting a study to identify the skills, competency and behavioural gaps being felt in these areas. Geologists, engineers and environmental scientists in mining are asked to complete this survey to help the industry understand how it can meet demands.
