PDAC recognizes Budget 2024 takes focus on the significant challenges Canadians are currently facing with respect to cost inflation, housing, and affordability of everyday life.

The Government of Canada announced an extension to the Mineral Exploration tax Credit (METC) through March 31, 2025. The extension represents $65 million to support investment in domestic mineral exploration and will generate multi-fold economic impacts in many regions and communities across the country.

PDAC is encouraged to see the Government of Canada committing further support for the mineral industry in the 2023 Federal Budget by announcing a 30% cleantech manufacturing tax credit that will boost the economics of mining of critical minerals in Canada. Worth more than $10-billion over ten years, the cleantech manufacturing tax credit aims to offset the cost of equipment used for mining and processing critical minerals, and make building new mines in Canada more economically feasible.

PDAC is thrilled to welcome pre-pandemic levels of attendance back to its annual convention, drawing 23,819 attendees to Toronto for the best business, investment and networking opportunities in the mineral exploration and mining industry.
