The bursary will be available to one male and one female enrolled in post-graduate studies in geoscience or a field of engineering related to mining, with a minimum of three year’s industry experience.
The applicant must be able to demonstrate a strong interest in the economic development of the mineral industry through exploration, mineral resource estimation, mine geology, mine engineering or metallurgy.
These bursaries target applicants whose thesis topic will contribute to the improved performance of the industry in an economic sense. This could be through the development of improved methods for exploration or mining, advancement of technology, application of new technology to better understand mineral systems, or by improving the performance of mining companies and mines in the field of sustainability, profitability, innovation or technology.
