Lisa Davis is a member of PDAC’s Board of Directors, as well as co-chair of the Finance & Taxation Committee. A graduate of Osgoode Hall Law School, Lisa practiced corporate and securities law early in her profession before joining PearTree Securities nearly a decade ago. She says that was when everything coalesced around minerals and mining.
Drawing on her extensive advisory and business experience in the investment industry, Lisa oversees the strategic direction of PearTree Securities and is responsible for the legal aspects of PearTree Canada's business.
Today, as a member of PDAC’s Diversity and Inclusion Working Group, Lisa is dedicated to incorporating policies and practices around diversity. With small exploration companies often lacking the tools and resources to tackle issues facing marginalized groups, Lisa advocates for the adoption of the practices needed throughout the industry more broadly.
Lisa is well-known at PDAC for her efforts related to governance and board renewal. A major success of the Finance & Taxation Committee during Lisa’s tenure has been the five-year Mineral Exploration Tax Credit (METC) renewal, a monumental achievement for the investment in and the growth of Canada’s mineral exploration sector. Lisa also states that her work around flow-through shares and the creation of clear guidance for those involved with raising money have been great accomplishments during her time at PDAC.
We caught up with Lisa as part of Women’s History Month to ask what it is like being a woman in a male-dominated industry, and how the industry can cultivate more inclusive and diverse working environments.
