PDAC is excited to announce that our 90th annual convention, PDAC 2022,  will take place in person in Toronto, Canada, June 13-15 and online, June 28-29.

We recognize that staying connected is especially important and this year’s format ensures everyone has the opportunity to participate in the world’s premier mineral exploration and mining convention.

The Student & Early Career Program offers individuals a unique opportunity to connect with industry professionals from around the world. Build your network, learn about careers in the industry, attend engaging presentations and to stay up to date on exciting industry developments.

PDAC 2022 Convention Travel Funding

PDAC offers limited travel funding for Canadian post-secondary student groups to attend the annual in person Convention. Funding is available to PDAC student members in good standing and is allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. 

Application deadline: May 27, 2022.

PDAC-SEG Student Minerals Colloquium (IN PERSON & ONLINE)

All students (BSc, MSc, PhD) working on projects with a link to mineral deposits (e.g. mapping, mineralogy, geochemistry, geophysics, environmental, hydrogeology, etc.) are welcome. Participants are able to share their research with an audience of academics, students, and industry professionals either in person at the poster exhibit, or online with a digital poster and prerecorded video presentation. 

Industry professionals can support upcoming talent and stay current with ongoing national and international research from students across the world.

Next Steps: Constructing your future career in the mineral exploration industry (IN PERSON & ONLINE) 

Finding your niche in the mineral exploration industry can be difficult in the early stages of your career. This session explores a selection of paths available to early career individuals along with the skills, strategies, and secrets to propel your career forward. The Next Generation Explorers Award (NGEA™) Association is pleased to moderate a panel discussion with successful geoscientists who have taken their careers in a variety of directions such as exploration, communications, finance, ESG (environment, social, governance), and beyond.

Student-Industry Mixer (IN PERSON)

This networking event provides a unique opportunity for students, early career individuals, and industry professionals to connect in a relaxed environment. All student attendees will be entered in a draw for tuition top-up awards and the winners of the Mary-Claire Ward Geoscience Award and the ERM Bursary will be announced.

PDAC-CIM Toronto Guided Tours of the Exhibits (IN PERSON)

Each tour stop will allow students and early career individuals to learn about the focus of the organization’s projects and potential career opportunities.

Next Generation Explorers Award (NGEA™) (ONLINE)

The NGEA™ was founded in honour of Frank Arnott (1951-2009), an exceptional exploration industry leader who championed innovative techniques that maximised the value of multidisciplinary data underpinning mineral exploration campaigns worldwide.

PRESENTATIONS: The 2022 finalists of this international geoscience student competition will present their submissions on transforming modern, pre-competitive global datasets into their interpretation of the subsurface geology and mineralisation targets.

INTERVIEWS & AWARDS: Mentors and finalists of this international geoscience student competition are invited to speak about their experience with innovation and team collaboration, as well as the difficulties they faced during the challenge. This year’s competition features a grand prize of $5000CAD for the team with the highest judges’ score, and three $3000CAD prizes for the teams with the highest scores in Innovation, Data Integration, and Impact & Exploration Significance.
