Alistair is an exploration geologist with over 20 years’ experience in the minerals industry. His global career has spanned the breadth of the industry with roles in major and junior companies, applied research and consulting companies, and academia. He is a multi-commodity geoscientist with experience in a wide number of commodities including Cu, Li, Ni, Coal, U, REE, Au. He is a previous recipient of the AME Colin Spence Award for Mineral Exploration.
Alistair holds a Ph.D. and B.Sc. from Queen’s University, Belfast in Northern Ireland, and a M.Sc. from the University of Leicester in England. Following his Ph.D., he completed post-doctoral work at the University of Leoben in Austria.
He joined Rio Tinto Exploration in 2012 and is currently the General Manager (Generative & Technical) for the Americas region. He is based in Vancouver, where he resides with his wife and 10-year-old twins.
