Federal Budget 2023
We are encouraged to see the Government of Canada committing further support for the mineral industry in the Federal Budget 2023 by announcing a 30% cleantech manufacturing tax credit, alongside funds to speed up federal assessments and expand Indigenous engagement. PDAC will focus on how these commitments turn into actions in our advocacy for members, the mineral industry, and for the future of Canada.

The Canadian Mining Hall of Fame (CMHF) is now accepting nominations for individuals who have shaped Canada’s global leadership in mining, embodied the important role mining plays in Canadian society, and inspired future generations into the industry. To make a nomination, a member organization must be notified by May 1.

GRI Sector Standard for Mining
The
Global
Reporting Initiative (GRI) recently released an exposure draft of their Sector Standard for Mining. Approved by the Global Sustainability Standards Board (GSSB), this is now open for public comment. This a standard for sustainability and/or ESG reporting that will be applicable for organizations whose primary focus lies in: exploration and extraction; support activities for mining; and supply of specialized products and services to mining organizations. The public comment period will remain open until April 30.
