| ADVOCACY

 

On June 14, Natural Resources Canada released Canada’s Critical Minerals Strategy: Discussion Paper, to assist in the creation of the Strategy, expected in the fall 2022. The Strategy will complement the pan-Canadian vision, principles, and strategic directions of the Canadian Minerals and Metals Plan (CMMP), developed with provinces and territories, industry, and Indigenous business representatives working to build a stronger, more competitive mining sector. along with PDAC before September 15.

 

The Department of Finance Canada published draft legislation to implement Budget 2022 tax measures and amendments, which includes details of the Critical Mineral Exploration Tax Credit, an incentive championed by PDAC, on August 9. The comment period for proposed legislation is open until September 30. Read legislation and explanatory notes and join PDAC in providing your comments .

| RESPONSIBLE EXPLORATION

 

PDAC is seeking proposals to integrate the e3 Plus framework into a modernized online platform for easier access and broader appeal. | SECURITIES

 

The Canadian Securities Administrators (CSA) extended the deadline to submit comments within the on NI 43-101. CSA is now seeking feedback on ways to update and improve Canada’s disclosure requirements for mineral projects, to ensure that Canada continues to set the leading standard for public reporting. You can now to CSA by September 13.

 

The self-certified investor prospectus exemption in Alberta and Saskatchewan, a pilot exemption expiring in March 2024, was amended to allow greater flexibility for businesses and investors. The amendments announced today help to progress the goal of treating self-certified investors in a generally similar manner to accredited investors. | TAX POLICY

 

On August 9, the Government of Ontario tabled their 2022 Budget, which includes $12M to extend the Ontario Junior Exploration Program (OJEP) for an additional two years and creates a Critical Minerals Stream for OJEP with an additional $4M per year for three years.
