Mineral Economist

Andrew Gulley is a mineral economist at the U.S. Geological Survey’s National Minerals Information Center (NMIC). His research has evaluated international resource competition, mineral supply risks to U.S. manufacturers, artisanal cobalt production, and Chinese influence in the cobalt supply chain. Before joining NMIC, he gained 10 years of mining industry experience spanning Litigation Economic Consulting Group, U.S. EPA, Newmont Mining, Resource Capital Funds, and Sustainable Development Solutions Group. Dr. Gulley holds a master’s and PhD in Mineral Economics from the Colorado School of Mines and a bachelor’s from the University of Chicago.
