Engaging with members in Saskatoon

 

On November 28, PDAC co-hosted a networking luncheon with the Saskatchewan Mining Association (SMA) during the Saskatchewan Geological Open House. PDAC President Raymond Goldie and SMA President Pam Schwann welcomed a full house of members who enjoyed the opportunity to meet with old friends and make new acquaintances. We are looking forward to reconnecting with our Vancouver and Yukon members during Roundup on January 24 – stay tuned!

| HUMAN RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT



 

All students (BSc, MSc, PhD) working on projects with a link to mineral deposits (e.g. mapping, mineralogy, geochemistry, geophysics, environmental, hydrogeology, etc.) are invited to submit a poster in the annual PDAC-SEG Student Minerals Colloquium, held during the 2024 Convention. This event provides the widest-possible exposure for current research. Bigger cash prizes to be won this year!

Students and early-career geoscientists are invited to submit their original mineral exploration project ideas for a chance to compete for $100,000 in cash prizes and project funding at the PDAC 2024 Convention. The Mining Industry Human Resources Council (MiHR) is pleased to announce the release of the report that delves into the PSE system and its capacity to support Canada’s expanding mining labour market. These challenges include declining mining-related program enrolment numbers, geographical concentration, unresponsiveness to labour demand and struggles with diversity.

| CRITICAL MINERALS


 

The newly-launched Critical Minerals Infrastructure Fund (CMIF) is a $1.5 billion investment over seven years to support clean energy and transportation infrastructure projects that will enable the development and expansion of Canada’s critical minerals production and reinforce associated supply chains. Funding may reach up to $50 million per project for non-governmental applicants, and is available for development activities as well as shovel ready projects.

 

Applications through NRCan are open until February 29, 2024 at 11:59PM PST.

 


 

Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) is seeking opportunities to help advance the Canadian critical minerals industry by collaborating on R&D projects that are aligned with industry needs and supported by several of Canada’s federal research facilities. The program aims to connect federal laboratories with upstream and midstream projects at TRL 2-5 which have the potential to generate significant positive impact in the Canadian critical minerals sector.
