| HUMAN RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT

 

All students (BSc, MSc, PhD) working on projects with a link to mineral deposits (e.g. mapping, mineralogy, geochemistry, geophysics, environmental, hydrogeology, etc.) are invited to submit a poster in the annual PDAC-SEG Student Minerals Colloquium, held during the 2024 Convention. This event provides the widest-possible exposure for current research. Bigger cash prizes to be won this year!

 

Submit your abstract by January 12.

 

 

Exhibitors are encouraged to participate in guided tours of the exhibits, to sign up as a student-friendly company, and to participate as an industry partner at the student-industry mixer. PDAC and Mining Industry Human Resources Council (MiHR) partnered to produce the 2023 Canadian Mineral Exploration HR Outlook, which enhances labour market information available to mineral exploration stakeholders and serves as the basis for developing an industry strategy and action plan to address key human resources issues.

Student-Industry Mineral Exploration Workshop (S-IMEW) returns to Sudbury from May 1-16, where the top nominated upper-year Canadian post-secondary geoscience students will learn about the extensive variety of careers in the mineral exploration industry and the adventures of being a geoscientist.

| CRITICAL MINERALS

 

The Critical Minerals Infrastructure Fund (CMIF) will support clean energy and transportation infrastructure projects to enable the development and expansion of Canada’s critical minerals production. The first call for proposals to distribute up to $300 million is now open, with funding reaching up to $50 million per project for non-governmental applicants to two streams: development activities and shovel-ready projects.

 

Applications are open until February 29, 2024 at 11:59PM PST.

IFRS Foundation launched the IFRS Sustainability knowledge hub at COP28’s Climate Action Day to help companies prepare their disclosures using ISSB Standards. It will be a useful repository for stakeholders seeking to advance their understanding of the ISSB Standards.

PDAC celebrated the holiday season earlier this month with the Board of Directors, Past Presidents, Committee members and staff at the annual holiday luncheon.️ We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to all our volunteers for their work supporting the association this year.
