| HUMAN RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT

 

This all-expense paid workshop for geoscience students returns to Sudbury, ON, May 1-16, 2024, which provides hands-on experiences of mineral exploration activities. Nominations close Dec 1.

This exciting opportunity provides financial support for five students to attend the PDAC 2024 Convention! Covering all costs, the Experience offers networking and learning opportunities for students in a geoscience or mining related program who have never attended the Convention. Applications close Dec 4.

 

 

The PDAC’s Convention Travel Fund helps student groups with the costs of travelling to Toronto to attend the annual Convention. Funding is allocated on a first-come, first-served basis to student members. Application deadline: February 9, 2024. Apply today.

 

 

Applications are being accepted for the 2024 Mary-Claire Ward Geoscience Award. The $5,000 award supports a graduate student in Canada whose thesis has a strong mapping component and embodies the concept of increasing our knowledge of the geological history of Canada through mapping. Applications are open for the $3,000 bursary for Innovation in Environmental and/or Social Performance. Open to students in the fields of environment, geoscience, exploration, engineering, hydrology, hydrogeology, sustainability, or social practice and community engagement.

 

 

All students (BSc, MSc, PhD) working on projects with a link to mineral deposits (e.g. mapping, mineralogy, geochemistry, geophysics, environmental, hydrogeology, etc.) are encouraged to participate in the annual PDAC-SEG Student Minerals Colloquium. The mining sector is feeling the effects of labour market tightening, putting pressure on companies to attract and retain talent. Achieving higher employment rates among equity-deserving groups will help the sector address current and expected labour shortages.
