Awards & Bursaries for Undergraduate & Graduate Students

Engaging Students in the Mineral Exploration & Development Industry
Co-chaired by Felix Lee and Scott Jobin-Bevans, the student affairs committee informs students about the PDAC and its convention, encourages student membership and develops financial sources to support post-secondary students across Canada.

The PDAC provides annual bursaries to various Canadian geoscience post-secondary institutions. At the PDAC convention in March 2007, Lynda Bloom presented David Piper, past president, of the Geological Association of Canada, a cheque for $50,000 towards the Logan Student Trust Fund.

The student affairs committee has established a Student-Industry Mineral Exploration Workshop in the Greater Sudbury Area. The inaugural workshop took place in May 2007.

The workshop is expected to take place again in Sudbury May 2008. This is an excellent opportunity for senior geoscience students of post-secondary schools across Canada to take advantage of the many learning experiences there is to offer.
For more information contact the PDAC Student Liaison.

Scott Jobin Bevans, PDAC's 2nd Vice President, Robert Marquis, GACs President, and Lynda Bloom, PDAC director, present Andy Parmenter of UNB the Mary-Claire Ward Geoscience Award at the second annual PDAC Student-Industry Networking Luncheon, March 6, 2007.
