| GEOSCIENCE & INNOVATION

 

Do you have an innovative idea to boost Canada’s capacity to produce critical minerals and need funding support to bring concepts to reality?

 

Natural Resources Canada is offering $40 million to help fund R&D or demonstration programs. Read the press release for more information on how to apply.

 

The Geological Survey of Canada (GSC) is undertaking new research on prospectivity modelling, incorporating new data, advanced algorithms, and ESG principles. Their paper Mapping Canada’s Green Economic Pathways for Battery Minerals: Balancing Prospectivity Modelling With Conservation and Biodiversity Values is a great example of the doors advanced analytics can open in geoscience. Be sure to check out the maps developed from their models.

| HUMAN RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT

 

Time is running out to enter the 2024 NGEA™ Challenge! This international competition gives teams of geoscience students an opportunity to interpret geoscience data and pitch mineralization targets to a panel of industry judges. The top six teams will win a free trip to present at #PDAC2024 and be eligible for up to $14,000 in cash prizes. Get your team together and enter before October 31.

| PDAC CONVENTION

 

Calling all subject matter experts, innovators and industry professionals. Apply now to present and share your knowledge, strategies, new concepts, and case studies at the PDAC 2024 Convention. Opportunities are available across a wide array of program areas.

 

Enhance your organization’s visibility, make a presentation, host a reception, and meet with prospects. All Presentation & Reception Rooms are located in the North Building of the Metro Toronto Convention Centre on Level 200 and will be available for rent from March 3-6, 2024. Applications are now open and are on a first-come first-served basis. Learn more about floor plans and apply.

 

Book your hotel accommodation early and take advantage of PDAC promotional rates for next year! Participating hotels and rates are now posted on the Convention website, with additional hotels to be included from August 9. All bookings are made directly with the hotel.

| REGULATORY AFFAIRS

 

Environment and Climate Change Canada is in the process of gathering ideas, information, and perspectives on biodiversity conservation in Canada to inform the development of a National Biodiversity Strategy. PDAC has actively worked to ensure the voice of mineral exploration is heard in the creation of such a strategy, as minerals and biodiversity have natural linkages. Read PDAC’s submission.

| TAX POLICY

 

Last renewed in 2019, the METC is set to expire in March 2024. PDAC is advocating to extend it for an additional 5-year period and we need your help. If you used METC to enhance a flow-through offering in the past few years, we’d like to hear from you! Get in touch and let us know your experience.
