Capitalizing on responsible mining (integrated with the Sustainability Program)

DATE
Monday, March 4, 2024
LOCATION
Room 714
Mining companies face increasing pressure to improve ESG performance and develop realistic and credible ESG targets. This session is tailored specifically to highlight the challenges and opportunities that exploration and mining companies face in the transition from conventional fossil fuel to low-carbon operations and becoming low-carbon producers. The session will specifically target junior and mid-tier producers and pre-feasibility/feasibility stage explorers and developers, and the panel will share their practical experiences and insights that they have faced in developing their approaches to become low-carbon operations. The session will focus on the real-world approach and the benefits realized (including accessing finance, cost reduction from integrating decarbonization projects, and how the approach can help integrate emerging technologies). Session will share with the audience the challenges, tangible results and benefits of developing a realistic decarbonization roadmap and integrating it into the mine development at all stages. More specifically, this session will help miners and investors understand the financial, technical and risk mitigation benefits of realistic and well-integrated carbon reduction targets and road maps at all stages of mine development.
