You are invited to European Union Day at PDAC! On Tuesday, March 5, 2024, the European Union hosts three distinct events. Please join us to learn about the business opportunities for the raw materials value chain in the European Union and learn about the EU Critical Raw Materials Act.

Event 1: Building sustainable and resilient raw materials value chains

Succeeding in our green and digital transition will strongly rely on our collective ability to secure a sustainable and responsible supply of raw materials. The EU is the world’s leading exporter of mining equipment and services and holds a competitive advantage in the raw materials sector. This is supported by several measures to promote innovative exploration, extraction, and processing of raw materials. The Networking and Business Breakfast aims to:

- Present the EU Critical Raw Materials Act
- Take stock of the achievements of the Canada-EU Strategic Partnership on raw materials since 2021
- Promote investment opportunities in the EU exploration and mining sectors
- Highlight business opportunities within the EU’s innovative mining equipment and services sector
- Raise awareness about the EU needs for a secure and sustainable supply of raw materials, in particular for the green and digital transition
- Share EU’s values on sustainable and responsible mining.

Event 2: Research & Innovation for mineral exploration and extraction in the European Union

Current and Future Trends, and Horizon Europe Funding Programme

Horizon Europe is the EU’s key funding programme for research and innovation. Together with the European Health and Digital Executive Agency (HaDEA), it addresses the European Commission’s ambition to help rebuild a post-COVID-19 Europe at its heart, which will be greener, more digital, more resilient and better fit for the current and forthcoming challenges. The Horizon Europe Programme facilitates collaboration and strengthens the impact of research and innovation in developing, supporting and implementing EU policies while tackling global challenges. It supports creating and exchanging excellent knowledge and technologies. The program supports the European Innovation Partnership on Raw Materials, the EU Raw Materials Initiative and further develops the raw materials sector in Europe through funding of transnational research and innovation activities.
