| PDAC CONVENTION

 

 

PDAC welcomes Project Arrow to the Investors Exchange exhibit floor, booth 3315. The Automotive Parts Manufacturers’ Association (APMA) of Canada launched the first, original, fullbuild, zero-emission concept vehicle named Project Arrow in 2023. An all-Canadian effort, it was designed, engineered, and built through the joint efforts of our world-class automotive supply sector and postsecondary institutions.

 

 

In 2023, PDAC launched the inaugural Indigenous Artists initiative, aimed at showcasing work of incredible artists from around the country, increasing the presence of Indigenous vendors on the show floor. Visit the Indigenous Artists booths in Trade Show North at PDAC 2024.

 

 

This new addition to the show floor includes a theatre and a lounge! Learn how to put your money to work at the Investment Leaders Forum and the Corporate Presentation Form for Investors that will take place in the theatre. | DRIVING RESPONSIBLE EXPLORATION (DRE)

 

PDAC has launched the new Driving Responsible Exploration branding and AODA-compliant toolkits to help organizations enhance their environmental, social, and health & safety performance. These updated toolkits have replaced e3 Plus and encompass the wealth of PDAC resources and guidance to be a roadmap toward best practices and sustainability.

Congratulations to Ludovico Scorsolini, this year’s recipient of the Mary-Claire Ward Geoscience Award. Ludovico's research aims to better understand the geological history and processes responsible for burial and exhumation of the Taconic eclogites and surrounding units through detailed structural, petrological and geochronological studies.

 

 

Congratulatiosn to Katherine Arenas-Collao, Queen’s University, the 2024 recipient of the Innovation in Environmental and/or Social Performance. Katherine's research employs an intersectional lens to investigate how EDI programs, designed to enhance the recruitment and retention of mining professionals at the site, contribute to the achievement of Canada’s Critical Minerals objectives.

This year PDAC will host the 15th annual Student-Industry Mineral Exploration Workshop in Sudbury, Ont.! from universities across Canada that will be participating in the Workshop this year.

 

The workshop includes a four-day field trip to Val-d’Or where students will learn about the regional geology and visit local mine sites. Industry experts will expose students to a wide range of topics such as geochemistry and geophysics, mineral economics, QA/QC and much more. Hands-on learning via mapping exercises, mine tours, core logging and more are included.

 

| ADVOCACY

 

PDAC submitted to Finance a commentary letter on the new Clean Technology Manufacturing Investment Tax Credit announced in federal Budget 2023. This new incentive will provide 30% refundable tax credit for capital investments in extraction and processing activities aimed at producing six critical minerals that are used for clean technologies.

 

| CRITICAL MINERALS

 

In November 2023, the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat launched the Supply Chain Regulatory Review, taking a look at the critical minerals industry. PDAC provided recommendations which would better enable Canadian mines to participate in the critical minerals supply chain.

 

| REGULATORY AFFAIRS

 

Following the October 2023 decision from the Supreme Court of Canada ruling that the “designated projects” portion of the Act as unconstitutional, for potential amendments which aim to support efficient and timely project assessments, greater stakeholder and rightsholder certainty, and equitable industry representation.
