| FISCAL INCENTIVES

Critical Mineral Exploration Tax Credit (CMETC) update

 

Mineral exploration companies are now able to issue flow-through shares eligible for the 30% CMETC. To provide more clarity on how issuers can satisfy requirements in the interim until legislation is passed, Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) has provided additional guidance. Read CRA’s commentary.

Student-Industry Mineral Exploration Workshop (S-IMEW) returns for 2023

 

We are excited to announce the return of S-IMEW from May 3-17 in Sudbury, Ontario. This two-week expense paid workshop exposes upper-year geoscience students to all aspects of the mineral exploration industry. Ask your Professor about being nominated by December 9. or email .

ERM Sustainability Bursary

 

Students are invited to apply for the $3,000 bursary for Innovation in Environmental and/or Social Performance. Open to post-graduate and final year undergraduate students at a Canadian institution. Eligible fields include environment, geoscience, exploration, engineering, hydrology, hydrogeology, sustainability, or social practice and community engagement.

Mary-Claire Ward Geoscience Award

 

Applications are open for the 2023 Mary-Claire Ward Geoscience Award. The $5,000 award supports a graduate student in Canada whose thesis has a strong mapping component and embodies the concept of increasing our knowledge of the geological history of Canada through mapping.

The PDAC’s Convention Travel Fund helps student groups with the costs of travelling to Toronto for the annual Convention. Funding is allocated on a first-come, first-served basis to student members.

PDAC responds to consultation on NI 43-101

 

In our response to a public consultation paper published by the Canadian Securities Administrators (CSA) on April 14, PDAC recognized the need for a periodic review of NI 43-101. We also emphasized the importance of keeping the report grounded solely within the technical realm, maintaining the PEA as a viable document, and improving SEDAR to enable better access of information and benchmarking of mineral projects.
