Tools for grassroots exploration: From evaluating and assessing data from geochemistry analysis to geometallurgy methods

This multi-topic workshop will start with mineralogy, reviewing the common analytical techniques in geometallurgy where the main analytical instruments used in geometallurgy tests will be reviewed for their applications and limitations. Tips will also be provided on how to use Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) mineralogy reports. Case studies will also be reviewed. Dr. Madhi Ghobadi, PhD and P.Geo, will help lead this discussion.

We will then address aspects of data quality assessment and validation for geochemistry analysis:

• What do different types of duplicates tell us?
• How is analytical accuracy actually assessed?
• What are control charts used for?
• How should non-conformities be addressed?
• What is the real purpose of a geological quality-control program?
This session will be led by Armando Simón, Ph.D, P.Geo.

The last topic will cover Spatiotemporal Geochemical Hydrocarbon (SGH), a tool to identify and locate mineralization under a wide variety of cover by sampling near surface samples. The method samples the continuous and rapid hydrocarbon flux emanating from bacterial activity on the mineral or petroleum target at depth. Dale Sutherland, B.Sc., will lead this session.
