The Government of Québec has built a unique business environment favorable to mining through a series of coordinated policies and participation by crown corporations. Global events of the past few years and the ubiquitous importance of Critical and Strategic Minerals (CSM) have given Québec and its mining ecosystem a distinct advantage, especially considering the considerable economic levers and tools that can be at its disposal. The development of the CSM plan has yielded several significant developments such as the newest active lithium and scandium producers in North America and the newest scandium producer in North America, and one of the largest new discoveries of lithium in the world. The strategic positioning of several CSM developers in Québec demonstrates a successful track record in creating a prosperous mining ecosystem in which the Government of Québec can be an active participant in every link of the chain from exploration to development and beyond.
