PDAC is pleased to support geoscience field trips for student groups as part of an academic course with an emphasis on support for field mapping schools. 

Funding is limited, and allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. 

Funding for 2019-2020 Field Trips has been fully allocated.
Applications for 2020-2021 will accepted starting October 1, 2020.

Summary Report from the University of Ottawa

The Death Valley Field Trip is an advanced field study geology course that is offered through the University of Ottawa, where students are required to complete specialized projects as well as written research report, based on a total of 10 days of fieldwork investigations.

The course took place in eastern California and western Nevada, near the world-famous Death Valley National Park, from February 13th – 23rd 2019. The course focused on advanced bedrock mapping within the tectonically extended Basin & Range province.
The almost complete bedrock exposure in the area provided an excellent learning environment were the students put into practice their skills.
