The discussion will include whether the senior and junior mining sectors’ proactive work on sustainability, environment, social and governance issues will potentially make the use of the Ombudsperson Office a last resort agency dealing with extreme situations that may have already given rise to potential litigation. The discussion will include issues and challenges relating to how the Ombudsperson Office expects to carry out its investigations including legal issues concerning evidence gathering and potential sanctions.
