Climate Change has become an imperative issue for global industry in recent years, with the mining industry as no exception. It has become one of the most scrutinized and heavily weighted topics for ESG investors, with increasing demand for companies to set emissions targets and disclose climate-related financial risks.

The Mining and Climate Change session will aim to provide a foundational review on a range of topics around this issue. The session will explores some of the physical risks and vulnerabilities to operations, as well as climate-related market pressures; exploring what is most relevant to both exploration and operating mining companies.

Specifically, the session will offer a series of short presentations on:

1. What issues are investors and ESG research and ratings firms looking at? What are their expectations for companies – both big and small?
Marie-Josée Privyk, Millani

2. What can Juniors do to better understand their energy portfolio at camp? How can they save money and reduce emissions?
Mark Wiseman, Avalon Resources

3. How can existing operations identify their exposure (and opportunities) to a changing climate? Which mining infrastructure is most vulnerable?
Olivia Gamache, Yamana Gold Inc.

4. What new technologies are companies looking at in order to reduce energy costs and emissions? What are the costs of those technologies and what is the return?
John Mullally, Goldcorp Inc.

Some of the presentations will explore specific tools, which will be available to attendees. A Q&A session will follow the short presentations.
