Gender diverse and inclusive workplaces

DATE
Tuesday, March 5, 2019
LOCATION
Room 715
Diversity in the mining and mineral exploration industry has become a highly important theme on the agenda of many conversations across the sector. Governments, companies (exploration, junior and major), international organizations and mining associations are recognizing the need to work together and take a stronger stance on diversity and inclusion requirements and expectations for the industry if we are going to see real change. This requires innovative approaches, disruption and deliberate policies and strategies to alter the way mining and mineral exploration systems have historically been.

This panel will look specifically at diversity and inclusion in the mining company context, including the barriers and challenges as well as some of the strategies and approaches taken by companies to break down these barriers and create more diverse and inclusive workspaces and supply chains. Panelists will be sharing both positive and negative experiences, highlighting lessons learnt and best practices.
Organizer: Valerie Pascale, Goldcorp Inc. and the Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada (PDAC), Toronto, Canada
