Environmental management is part of every mining project and the expectation is that each challenge will be met with success. As a participant in this course, you will gain the tools you need to think proactively about the environment and make well-informed decisions with confidence.

The path to proactive thinking is Environmental Intelligence. Environmental Intelligence integrates four principles: thought, applications, solutions and communication. Each of these will be explored over the day so that participants:

• Expand their knowledge of the environmental compliance process at the exploration stage and through the mine life cycle;
• Develop actionable environmental goals that tie directly into their corporate goals;
• Empower their decision-making based on effective data collection, management and analysis;
• Modernize their perspective through innovation, use of technologies, and strong, gainful collaborations;
• Communicate with impact through clarity of message and frequent engagement; and
• Instill Environmental Intelligence into their corporate structure.

Top “take-aways”:
The primary learning outcomes for this course build on what past participants voiced as key insights – being how to:
• effectively conceptualize your mining site at the outset and build contingencies against the unexpected, thereby decreasing costs and liability.
• take the time needed to build the trusting relationships internal and external to your company required for project approval; and
• regularly take score of environmental performance across your company divisions so that areas of improvement can be identified and current, emerging and future risks managed.
