The last 12 months have seen Peru navigating the social and political complexities stemming from a new government and the challenges resulting from an economic recession fueled by external shocks, such as fluctuations in the prices of energy and food, and the economic growth of China.
At the 2024 Peru Day at PDAC, we seek to understand the standing of Peru in the international scenario and, most importantly, to identify the opportunities that Peru has in that context to recover the dynamism of its mining industry, along with emphasizing the homework that must be done to make that happen, which includes urgently cutting the red tape that has proven to be a hindrance to the competitiveness of our mining industry. We expect senior Peruvian authorities to make relevant announcements at the 2024 Peru Day at PDAC; on this last matter and for the first time in a Peru Day, all participants will have the chance to interact personally, in “constructive” dialogue tables, with speakers and representatives of the Peruvian government and international participants of the mining industry.
