Launch of Child Rights and Security Handbook

DATE
Monday, March 5, 2018
The launch of the Child Rights and Security Handbook, an implementation companion to the Child Rights and Security Checklist. Lieutenant-General (ret.) Romeo Dallaire will be our keynote speaker, addressing child rights and security. We will also have a panel with Barrick Gold Vice-President Jonathan Drimmer, UNICEF CEO David Morley, and a high-level representative from Global Affairs Canada to introduce participants to the Handbook.

Children and young people are particularly vulnerable to the impact of security arrangements in the context of extractive activities. In 2017, a multi-stakeholder working group of companies, governments, civil society organizations and expert consultants developed the Child Rights and Security Checklist. They have now developed the Handbook, an implementation companion that equips governments and companies to integrate child rights into public and private security arrangements.

Email [email protected] with your name and organization to register your interest in participating. Places are limited and admittance may only be given to those who have received confirmation.
