PDAC is encouraged to see its recommendations reflected in the Federal Government’s Critical Minerals Strategy. Canada’s Minister of Natural Resources also announced seven countries, including Canada, will form a Sustainable Critical Minerals Alliance. Learn more.

| GEOSCIENCE & INNOVATION

 

CFES is looking to fill two new roles from its membership base. These positions are working roles, focused on communications, social media and developing pages for their website. Also, CFES is looking to renew and expand the ‘What’s it Like?’ career page, and are looking for biographies of members to illustrate their work, an image of themselves and their workplace, and very short video.  Visit the website or contact [email protected] to learn more.

| HUMAN RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT

 

PDAC’s Convention Travel Fund helps student groups cover the costs of getting to Toronto for its annual convention. Funding is allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Apply before February 10.

 

Students have a unique opportunity to volunteer their time at the Convention in exchange for a complimentary All Access Pass, food vouchers, a gift card, volunteer apparel, and a volunteer certificate. Submit your application today.

| INDIGENOUS AFFAIRS

 

If you’re a small or medium sized business in the Red Seal trades, you could qualify for the National Apprenticeships Program through the Native Women’s Association of Canada (NWAC). This initiative supports SMEs across Canada to hire Indigenous women and gender-diverse people as first-year Red Seal apprentices. Businesses can receive up to $20,000 in funding ($10,000 per apprentice, up to two apprentices) with access to NWAC’s exclusive job board. This is a great opportunity to make your workplace more diverse, while addressing ongoing labour shortages. Learn more and apply now.

PDAC hosted its first member event at AME Roundup on January 25. The well-attended event gave members from BC and the Yukon an opportunity to meet PDAC Directors, network with colleagues and find out what is on the horizon for 2023. Learn more about membership options on the PDAC website.

 

Members will be emailed a personalized link to the 2023 Board of Directors election ballot at 12 p.m. EDT. If you have not already done so, renew your membership and exercise your right to vote. Election results will be announced at the AGM on March 5.

 

On behalf of the PDAC Board of Directors, we invite all members to attend the AGM taking place at 8 a.m. EDT on March 5. The meeting will be held in Room 711, South Building, at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre.
