Geoscience careers: Forge your own path
In collaboration with Carlton University Geology Society (GeoSoc), we will host a free geoscience career series which will highlight geoscientists in diverse industry roles, some with unique career paths. Delve into the working world and learn about a typical workday, job lifestyles and more. Students, recent graduates and early career professionals are welcome. Talks commence Wednesdays at 7:00 pm EST, from February 9 to March 30. Registration is required.

Travel funding for student groups
To help cover costs of travelling to Toronto for the PDAC 2022 Convention, a travel fund is available for student groups. Funding is available to student members in good standing and is allocated on a first-come,
first-served basis. Apply by May 27.

Rescheduled from March to June
The world’s premier mineral exploration and mining convention was rescheduled from March to June because of restrictions in Ontario that made planning for the event highly uncertain. PDAC 2022 will now take place in person in Toronto from June 13-15 and online from June 28-29.

Report outlines potential for circular economy
Towards a Circular Economy (CE) Approach to Mining Operations by Natural Resources Canada highlights the projected increase in demand for minerals to power Canada and the world’s energy transition. The ability for metals to be recycled and adapted has potential for CE strategies to help companies reach their net zero targets and reduce waste in supply chains.
