TITLE

Today we observe the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. We mourn the tragic legacy of residential schools in Canada, we honour the victims and celebrate the survivors.

In June 2021, a bill creating a statutory holiday to commemorate the tragic legacy of residential schools in Canada received royal assent after passing unanimously in the Canadian Senate. However, since 2013, Canadians have marked September 30th Orange Shirt Day, in memory of a piece of clothing then-six-year-old Phyllis Webstad had taken from her on her first day at a residential school in 1973.

PDAC partners with MiHR & CIM on Mining Needs You Virtual Career Fair

In partnership with the Mining Industry Human Resources Council (MiHR) and the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum (CIM), PDAC is proud to present the Mining Needs You Virtual Career Fair on November 8 and 9, 2021.

Companies are encouraged to register for a booth to promote their job opportunities and exciting careers in the mineral industry to job seekers. Registration is free for job seekers and only $300 for exhibitors.

This national career fair will see employers, recruiters, academia and other sector representatives network and offer students and job seekers the ability to apply for exciting work placement and job opportunities. PDAC congratulates Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on election victory

PDAC congratulates Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and the Liberal party on its election win and looks forward to continuing to work with the Government of Canada to support the mineral exploration and mining sector.

PDAC will continue to champion perspectives from our members and industry in our advocacy efforts with the federal government and we are keen to engage on the commitments made in the Liberal election platform that impact our industry, including plans to:

Double the Mineral Exploration Tax Credit for materials on the Canadian list of critical minerals, which are essential to the manufacturing of vital clean technologies, such as batteries;
Use all tools, including the Investment Canada Act, to ensure the protection and development of our critical minerals from both an economic and national security perspective;
Build an end-to-end, sustainable battery supply chain and work to attract near-term multi-billion anchor investments in key areas like minerals processing and cell manufacturing; and
Continuing to work with partners to ensure Canada meets its goals to conserve 25% of our lands and waters by 2025 and 30% of each by 2030.

Learn about the development of the Mining Industry Human Resources Council’s (MiHR) Indigenous Awareness Training program, a new initiative that provides mineral sector workers with an introduction to Indigenous values, histories, peoples and experiences. Speakers will also share their experiences in creating unique Indigenous awareness programs for Tectonic Metals and Golden Predator Mining Corp., and provide insight to other junior explorers who may be interested in developing their own programs.

Multi-year renewal plan launching soon

Want to lock in your PDAC membership for more than 1 year? Well, now you can, thanks to our new multi-year membership renewal option. All individual and corporate members will have the ability to renew for up to 3 years. Keep in mind that if you renew before December 31 and are eligible for the discounted Core rate, you can secure that rate for multiple years. We’re pleased to reveal that the work of existing members to grow the association will be rewarded. The PDAC will soon launch a membership referral program. PDAC is excited to announce that PDAC 2022, our 90th annual convention, will take place in person in Toronto, Canada from March 7-9. This will be followed by an online event on March 10-11.

PDAC responds to CSA’s public consultation on continuous disclosure obligations

PDAC responded to the Canadian Securities Administrators (CSA) recent consultation that includes a proposal to enable non-author QPs provide consent for technical reports and semi-annual reporting for venture issuers. We are encouraged to see continued efforts to reduce burdens and improve market efficiencies by CSA.
