CRA recognizes a one-year extension for flow-through spending

Following PDAC’s continued efforts, the federal government published draft legislative proposals in December, to extend timelines for spending capital raised via flow-through shares. While the legislation remains in process, the CRA has confirmed the assumption that issuers/auditors are likely to treat the proposed amendment in the year-end report with the one-year extension enacted.

CSA Consultation on activist short selling

In December, CSA published a consultation to address issues that may arise due to activist short selling in the Canadian capital markets. While the legislation remains in process, the CRA has confirmed, with respect to year-end report, that issuers and auditors should treat proposed amendments as if they have been enacted. Call for Targeted Geoscience Initiative (TGI) Grant Proposals

Natural Resources Canada's TGI Grant Program is seeking proposals for projects that are complementary to related studies. The deadline to apply is February 22.

HEALTH & SAFETY

WORKING ON ICE SAFETY NOTICE

A safety notice has been issued after a worker went missing when a dozer broke through ice. The incident remains under investigation.

PDAC & AME remind all members contemplating or executing work on ice, such as drilling or transporting materials, to always implement safe practices for working on ice. Currently, some areas in Canada are experiencing less-than-typical ice thickness; as such additional vigilance is recommended.

Students will have a unique opportunity to network with industry professionals from around the world through events like Flash Mentoring, PDAC-SEG Student Minerals Colloquium, and other student-friendly programs. For the first time, PDAC will host the Next Generation Explorers Award (NGEA™), an international geoscience student competition.

Student members receive a discount on convention registration.

Deadline extended for the Student Minerals Colloquium

Calling all economic geologists! Present your research at the annual Student Minerals Colloquium during PDAC 2021. This multi-day event allows you to showcase your research to industry professionals from around the world. All students (BSc, MSc, Ph.D.) working on projects with links to mineral deposits (e.g. mapping, mineralogy, geochemistry, geophysics, environmental, hydrogeology, etc.) are encouraged to participate. The deadline to register is January 22.

Volunteer at the PDAC 2021 Virtual Convention

Save money and network with industry professionals while attending PDAC 2021. Students can volunteer at the PDAC Convention in exchange for a complimentary All Access Student Pass. Volunteers will work remotely, using the online convention platform, to monitor sessions at PDAC 2021. Learn more and apply online.
