ADVOCACY

PDAC advocacy continues to have impact

Our recommendation to the Government of Canada to renew the Targeted Geoscience Initiative (TGI) and Geo-mapping for Energy and Minerals (GEM) program was recognized in a July 29 announcement by the Minister of Natural Resources. The commitment of $98 million over the next five years will provide a much-needed injection to support public geoscience work in Canada.

Federal Budget 2021

PDAC responded to the Federal Government as part of the consultation process ahead of the 2021 Federal Budget. Our eight recommendations are focused on ensuring that the mineral exploration and development sector will be well positioned for recovery in the post-pandemic economy. Government to extend flow-through share timelines

As a result of PDAC advocacy, on July 10, the Federal Department of Finance proposed changes to Canada’s flow-through regime to allow issuers an additional 12 months under both the general rule and the look-back rule. With legislation expected in the fall, these changes give exploration companies flexibility to plan and recover from the effects of the pandemic.

We are accepting proposals for sessions that will make up the PDAC 2021 Capital Markets Program. The program creates a forum for dialogue on a range of topics related to financing and access to capital. We are looking for creative proposals that reflect topical industry themes and are flexible in their presentation format (virtual or in-person). Submit proposals online by September 4.

The 15th annual PDAC-AME (Association for Mineral Exploration) Health & Safety Survey will soon close. This year's survey, which is held on a new portal, includes features such as live tracking elements. Head to www.explorationsurvey.ca to participate.
