Federal Budget 2020
PDAC provided recommendations that will enhance Canada's mineral industry competitiveness. As an industry that employs over 634,000 Canadians in rural, remote, northern and Indigenous communities, and contributes 5% to Canada's GDP, government action is critical to help the mineral sector continue to be a key driver of the economy.

MiHR's third Virtual Career Fair (VCF): A Career in Mining is More Than You Think returns September 9-10. Twenty-six mining companies and nearly 1,000 job seekers participated in 2018, benefiting from discussions about the mining industry and available job positions in a user-friendly online format. INDIGENOUS AFFAIRS

Capacity-Building for communities
The exploration and mining sector offers a number of skill development and capacity building opportunities. We have launched a new capacity funding catalogue on our website, highlighting programs across Canada that support Indigenous participation and engagement with the mineral sector. Take a look!

Terminology change
The PDAC Aboriginal Affairs Program was renamed the Indigenous Affairs Program to reflect Canada's endorsement of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples. It also recognizes that the PDAC Convention is inclusive of all Indigenous groups, within Canada and abroad. 
 
SECURITIES

Expanding At-The-Market (ATM) Access
PDAC is encouraged by the Canadian Securities Administrators (CSA) recent efforts to make ATM financing practical in Canada. CSA has proposed certain amendments to NI 44-102 (Shelf Distributions) to codify exemptions related to certain prospectus requirement into securities law. PDAC responded to CSA's public consultation on the proposed changes with recommendations that aim to ensure the ATM regime is an effective financing mechanism for all mineral industry issuers.
