CAPITAL MARKETS
Submit a proposal for PDAC 2020
We are seeking proposals for sessions that will make up the Capital Markets Program at the PDAC 2020 Convention. The program creates a forum for dialogue on a range of topics related to financing and access to capital—the lifeblood of mineral exploration. Send your proposal to [email protected] by June 30.
Help PDAC with study research
Take part in a new study that will analyze investor dynamics within Canada’s mineral exploration industry. The project will examine the investor base over time to identify trends and underlying factors that have influenced activity. Send your proposal to [email protected] by July 7.
GEOSCIENCE & INNOVATION
Innovation in exploration
PDAC is seeking proposals to develop an Innovation in Exploration Case Studies review to highlight innovation in Canada’s exploration industry. Our goal is to convey the scope of innovations as envisioned, and the related path undertaken to facilitate implementation into active operations.

To exemplify the importance of public geoscience data to exploration in Canada, PDAC has undertaken the task of compiling anecdotes of successful cases where it has been used. Innovation fund supports mining
Need a funding partner to bring innovations in the mineral exploration sector from concept to reality? BDC Capital’s recent pledge to establish a $250 million industrial innovation investment fund could be the solution! PDAC applauds the new fund’s mandate to support mining technology, targeted AI, robotics and drones.

S-IMEW 2019 is in the books
PDAC hosted its 13th annual Student-Industry Mineral Exploration Workshop (S-IMEW) in Sudbury, Ontario in May. The workshop exposed students to all aspects of the industry through a combination of lectures, field exercises, site visits and networking with industry professionals. Highlights include participation in tours of underground mines, a smelter, exploration drill site and geophysical surveys.
Frank Arnott – Next Generation Explorers Award
PDAC will host the inaugural Frank Arnott – Next Generation Explorers Award at the PDAC 2021 Convention in Toronto. This award brings together the education and mineral resource sectors to address challenges around utilization and interpretation of exploration-relevant data. The Frank Arnott Challenge is a way for geoscience students to “bridge the real world skills gap” by working collaboratively on an unstructured problem.

Pre-filing system for mining issuers
The Ontario Securities Commission (OSC) recently announced that mining issuers can now request reviews of public technical disclosure before filing a preliminary short form prospectus. PDAC advocated for this change and applauds the OSC for reducing regulatory burden on issuers.
