PDAC presents recommendations for Canada's Budget 2015
Charles Beaudry,Chair of the PDAC Geoscience Committee, appeared before the House of Commons Standing Committee on Finance on October 1 as part of the committee’s Pre-Budget Consultations.PDAC was invited to present recommendations for Budget 2015 as part of the panel discussion on the topic “Increasing the competitiveness of Canadian businesses through research, development, innovation and commercialization.” |

Mr. Beaudry highlighted recommendations to enhance the competitiveness of Canada’s mineral exploration and development industry, which included the renewal of the Mineral Exploration Tax Credit (METC) for an additional three years, in addition to providing longer-term stability to junior companies and boosting investor confidence.PDAC also recommended that the Targeted Geoscience Initiative (TGI) be renewed, which will expire in March 2015. TGI will enhance Canada’s competitiveness by finding new ways to explore more efficiently and enhance the capacity of the exploration industry to detect buried mineral deposits.To view PDAC’s complete pre-budget recommendations, please click here. |

CCMR: improving Canada's Capital Markets
The PDAC has been closely following Canada’s conversation around a national regulator, meeting with industry experts as well as government officials. The establishment of the Cooperative Capital Markets Regulator (CCMR) is an instrumental step in helping our members succeed in financing their exploration activities. OSC offers additional seminars for small and medium enterprises
The Ontario Securities Commission (OSC) has added four sessions to the OSC SME Institute to provide small and medium enterprises (SMEs) with more information about market access, capital raising and cost-effective regulatory compliance. Call for Applications: Mary-Claire Ward Geoscience Award
Applications are being accepted for the 2015 Mary-Claire Ward Geoscience Award. The $5,000 award is given to a graduate geology student enrolled in a Canadian university. The award is intended to encourage and support a graduate student in Canada whose thesis embodies the concept of increasing our knowledge of the geological history of Canada through mapping.
