PDAC asks government to reconsider a campaign pledge
PDAC is working with other industry associations, and the Canadian Chamber of Commerce, to examine the Liberal Party’s campaign pledge to cap the amount that employees can claim through stock-option income deductions. If this measure is implemented, we will work to ensure that it does not inadvertently undermine the ability of pre-revenue venture issuers, such as exploration companies, to attract talent and deploy scarce capital. For more information, please contact Samad Uddin, PDAC’s Director of Capital Markets, at [email protected].

TSX Venture Exchange hosts meetings across Canada
The TSX Venture Exchange is holding a series of town hall meetings to share plans, and seek input, on how to revitalize Canada's public venture market. Discussions are focused on three areas:
  • Reducing clients' administrative and compliance costs without compromising investor confidence.
  • Expanding the base of investors financing companies and generally enhance liquidity.
  • Diversifying and growing the stock list to increase the attractiveness of the marketplace overall.
Meetings have already been held in Calgary and Montreal. Space is available in Toronto (January 20) and Vancouver (January 28). Register now.

A new resource for our members
PDAC has developed a new political advocacy toolkit to share best practices for government engagement. The toolkit outlines:
  • Why members should engage with government.
  • Principles of effective political engagement.
  • Key messages.
  • Best practices for meetings.
If you would like to obtain a copy of the toolkit, please email Deanna Pagnan, PDAC’s Senior Manager of Public Affairs, at [email protected].

2016 Board of Directors Election to be held online
The PDAC 2016 notice of the Annual General Meeting, as well as materials for the Board of Directors election, will be distributed to members electronically.
  • On February 3, members will receive an email that contains a link to the AGM notice, personalized voting instructions, an individualized password, and a link to the candidate information and ballot.
  • Once a ballot is submitted, the results are encrypted and kept anonymous. A confirmation email will be issued when the ballot has been received.
  • As voting proceeds, reminder emails will be sent to those who have not yet voted.
We look forward to your participation in this very important process. PDAC Board of Directors.
