Kaiser’s report cast a spotlight on the precarious financial health of the grassroots exploration industry; risk-tolerant money has been drying up, and what little is out there has been flowing to companies with flagship projects.     Financing for grassroots mineral exploration has been drying up over the last three years, leaving hundreds of exploration companies facing a capital crisis. In response to this crisis, the PDAC and its partner associations across Canada have been calling for provincial and territorial governments to take action by (amongst other things) increasing their fiscal supports for prospecting and exploration.     PDAC staff called for greater public support for mineral exploration and mining at the annual Energy and Mines Ministers Conference (http://www.emmc2013nwt.ca/), held in August 2013 in Yellowknife, NWT. In addition to putting forward concise, innovative requests for federal support via Budget 2014 (http://www.pdac.ca/public-affairs/budget-2014), PDAC also worked with CMIF to identify specific actions that provinces and territories could take to respond to the crisis in mineral exploration financing.
