Mary-Claire Ward Geoscience Award
The Mary-Claire Ward Geoscience Award has been established to honour the memory of Mrs. Ward who died on April 18. She believed strongly in the importance of maintaining Canada’s geoscience knowledge base and used every opportunity to deliver this message. An obituary is contained in the April 2004 issue of PDAC in Brief. The new award, which has been created by the PDAC; the Geological Association of Canada; Watts, Griffis and McOuat Limited; the National Geological Surveys Committee, and Mrs. Ward’s many friends and colleagues, will be presented annually to a post-graduate student enrolled in geology at a Canadian university. The award recipient will be undertaking a geoscience project with a geological mapping component. The award fund, which is being administered by the Canadian Geological Foundation, is now accepting donations, which qualify for a tax deduction. If you would like to make a donation, please click here.
