writers and industry commentators including:
Rick Rule,
Global Resource Investments
Rick
has dedicated his entire life to all aspects of
the natural resource industry. His contacts and
knowledge of this market are unmatched. At
Global he leads a team that features
professionals trained in resource related
disciplines, such as geology and engineering,
who work together to evaluate investment
opportunities.
Founder of Global Resource Investments, Ltd.
Rick began his career in the securities business
in 1974, and has been principally involved in
natural resource security investments ever
since. He is a leading American retail broker
specializing in mining, energy, water utilities,
forest products and agriculture. His research
and brokerage capabilities are frequently
recommended by distinguished financial
newsletter writers such as Bob Bishop, Jim
Blanchard, Doug Casey, Adrian Day, Richard
Maybury, Paul van Eeden, Mark Skousen, Jack
Pugsley and others.
John Doody,
Gold Stock Analyst
John
Doody brings a unique perspective to gold stock
analysis. With a BA in Economics from Columbia,
an MBA in Finance from Boston University, where
he also did his PhD-Economics course work, Doody
has no formal “rock” studies beyond
"Introductory Geology" at Columbia, taught by
the University's School of Mines.
An Economics Professor for almost two decades,
Doody became interested in gold due to an innate
distrust of politicians. In order to serve those
that elected them, politicians always try to get
nine slices out of an eight slice pizza. How do
they do this? They debase the currency via
inflationary economic policies.
As Doody initially studied gold stocks, he had a
hard time deciding which to buy... their share
prices, market capitalizations, production and
reserve levels were all different, yet each made
exactly the same product: Gold.
To solve the dilemma and determine which gold
stocks represent the best value at a point in
time, Doody popularized a metric called Market
Cap per ounce; a company's stock market
capitalization (number of shares times stock
price) is divided by the ounces Produced per
year, or its ounces of Proven and Probable
Reserves. This puts all the miners on the same
basis, so when buying you know how much you are
paying for each ounce production and each ounce
of reserves. The Market Cap/oz values are
wide-ranging… sometimes justified and sometimes
not, meaning Mr Market is inefficient and does
not always price a stock correctly… and this
creates many of the opportunities identified in
Gold Stock Analyst.
Lawrence Roulston,
Resource Opportunities
Lawrence
Roulston, editor, is a geologist, with
engineering and business training, and more than
20 years of hands-on experience in the resource
industry. Lawrence is ideally suited to publish
Resource Opportunities. After completing his
studies at the University of British Columbia in
1975, Mr. Roulston worked as an analyst for
Cominco Ltd. and for a mid-sized Calgary oil
group for several years. In 1984 he became the
CFO for a group of mineral exploration
companies. He was also vice-president in an
investment management firm focused on the
resource industry. From 1994 to 1997, he was CEO
and director of a mineral exploration company.
Since then, he has been a resource industry
consultant and independent mining analyst. Mr.
Roulston's years of hands-on experience and
extensive personal contacts in the industry
provide unique insights that have generated an
impressive track record for Resource
Opportunities.
Ian McAvity,
Deliberations on charts of Gold & Related Markets
Mr.
McAvity is a Director of Central Fund of Canada
Limited since 1983. He is a Member of Executive
Committee. Mr. McAvity has been involved in the
world of finance for over 40 years, as a banker,

and consultant, specializing in the technical
analysis of international equity, foreign
exchange and precious metals markets. His
analysis and views have been published in “Ian
McAvity’s Deliberations on World Markets
Newsletter” continuously since 1972. Mr. McAvity
is also a director of Duncan Park Holdings
Corporation.
Adrian Day,
Asset Management
Adrian Day is considered a pioneer in promoting
the benefits of global investing in this
country. A native of London, after
graduating with honors from the London School of
Economics, Mr. Day spent many years as a
financial investment writer, where he gained a
large following for his expertise in searching
out unusual investment opportunities around the
world. He has also authored two books on
the subject of global investing: International
Investment Opportunities: How and Where to
Invest Overseas Successfully and Investing
Without Borders.
Mr. Day is a recognized authority in both global
and resource investing. He is frequently
interviewed by the press, domestically and
abroad. He is a popular speaker and
frequently invited to lecture at financial
conferences and seminars around the world. His
pleasures include fine dining, reading
(especially history), and the opera.
Bob
Moriarty, 321 Gold
Bob Moriarty was a Marine F-4B pilot at the age
of twenty and a veteran of over 820 missions in
Viet Nam. Becoming a Captain in the Marines at
22, he was one of the most highly decorated
pilots in the war. He went on to ferry General
Aviation aircraft all over the world for 15
years with over 240 over the water deliveries.
He holds 14 International Aviation records
including Lindbergh's record for time between
New York to Paris in two different categories.
In 1996 he began an online computer business on
the internet with his wife Barbara becoming one
of the early adopters of the internet. Convinced
gold/silver were at a bottom in 2001, Bob and
Barbara started one of the first websites
devoted to teaching readers what they need to
know about investing in resource stocks. Bob and
Barb now operate two resource sites, 321Gold.com
and 321Energy.com where up to 100,000 people a
day visit. Bob travels to dozens of mining
projects a year and then writes about them. He
was one of the first analysts to write about
NovaGold, Northern Dynasty, Silver Standard,
Running Fox and YGC Resources among many, many
others. He claims with some justification that
all of his readers are financially better off
since they have been coming to his site.
Brent
Cook, Exploration Insights
Brent Cook is an independent exploration analyst
and author of Exploration Insights
(www.explorationinsights.com). His newsletter is
devoted to the critical analysis of junior
mining and exploration companies as it relates
to investing.
Brent has over 25 years of on-the-ground
experience evaluating mineral property economics
and geology. He has been an advisor, and
consultant to high net worth individuals and
major mining companies on project scattered
across nearly 60 countries.
David
Coffin, HRAAdvisory.com
David, the “geology side” of HRA, has been
active in prospecting, resource calculation, and
feasibility studies for resource companies for
29 years. He attended the Haileybury School of
Mines, authored numerous qualifying reports for
resource companies, and managed and designed
field programs for over 15 years.
His experience is so vast that scores of
companies try and lure him to look at their
projects. Why? Because they know if their
project has Dave’s seal of approval, a lot of
serious market players and other analysts will
take notice. Besides, with his background,
getting Dave to visit a site is like hiring a
top flight consultant – without the consulting
fees.
Dave went against the crowd in the late 1990’s
urging companies to return to high grade
underground mining which turned out to be
salvation for many of them during the bear
market that followed.
David was one of the first (along with Eric) to
call the current cycle as the secular trend
others have only recently recognized. They made
that call back in 2001. David is a regular
speaker at Cambridge House, the PDAC, the New
Orleans Gold Show as well as other resource and
commodity investment shows in North America and
Europe, and has been interviewed numerous times
on radio and TV and in third party news articles
for his opinions on the gold sector and resource
stocks in general.
David logs literally hundreds of thousands of
miles every year, visiting exploration sites on
six continents in order to bring back the real
goods for HRA subscribers.
David
Morgan, Silver-Investor.com
David Morgan started investing in the stock
market while still a teenager. A precious metals
aficionado armed with degrees in finance and
economics as well as engineering, he created the
Silver-Investor.com website and originated The
Morgan Report, a monthly that covers economic
news, overall financial health of the global
economy, currency problems ahead and reasons for
investing in precious metals.
David
Skarica, Addicted to Profits
David Skarica is a Canadian economist. He was
born in Toronto, Ontario on September 27, 1977.
He grew up in Dundas, Ontario. His father Toni
is a well-respected Crown Attorney in Hamilton,
Ontario, along with a former member of
parliament for the riding of Wentworth North.
At the age of 18 in 1996 he became the youngest
person on record to pass the Canadian Securities
Course.
In 1998, Dave began to write the investment
newsletter Addicted to Profits, which
specialized in technical analysis of the markets
and stocks. In December 1998 his first book
Stock Market Market Panic! How to Prosper in the
Coming Bear Market was published. This book
forsaw the stock market crash of the early 2000s
along with the increasing gold, oil and resource
prices of the time. However, it failed to
predict the housing boom, actually predicted a
housing bubble.
From 2001 to 2005, Dave appeared on many
financial radio and television shows in Canada,
which included The Michael Vaughn Show on ROBTV
and The Vicki Gabereau Show. In 2004, he ended
Addicted to Profits to start other ventures,
which included the website
stockchartoftheday.com. In 2005, he started
another publication The Skarica Letter, which
uses an unique star rating system to rank
stocks. In January 2006, his second book The
Contrarian Who Saved the World, a story which
uses fiction to explain technical analysis of
the stock market was due to be published.
Greg
McCoach, The Mining Speculator
Greg McCoach is an entrepreneur, who has
successfully started and run several businesses
the past 22 years. For the last 7 of these years
he has been involved with the precious metals
industry as a bullion dealer, investor, and
newsletter writer.
Mr. McCoach's years of business experience and
extensive personal contacts in the mining
industry provide unique insights that have
generated an impressive track record for The
Mining Speculator since its inception in 2001.
He also spreads his vast knowledge of the
precious metals markets in a weekly column for
Gold World.
Greg is also the President of AmeriGold, a gold
bullion dealer.
Ian
Gordon, Longwave Analyst
The son of a British military officer, Ian
followed in his Father’s footsteps and graduated
from The Royal Military Academy at Sandhurst. He
served as a Platoon Commander in the Cameronians
(Scottish Rifles). Four years later in 1967 Ian
immigrated to Canada where he entered the
History Department at the University of
Manitoba—a decision that has had a profound
impact on his career to this day. It was during
this period that he began to study the
historical trends that ultimately provided the
foundation for his Long Wave theory.
It wasn’t until 1983 that Ian entered the
financial realm. He worked as a stock broker in
Ontario for eight years before working in
Management for three more years in Toronto and
Vancouver. It was 1998 when Ian determined that
the Long Wave Theory was too compelling to
ignore any longer. He began writing the Long
Wave Analyst and re-entered the sales side of
the business. He accurately predicted the end of
the massive equity bull market and also
accurately predicted the beginnings of the
current gold bull market. By 2003, Ian was the
#1 performer at Canaccord Capital (Canada’s
largest independent brokerage firm)—a position
he maintained until he left the firm in late
2005.
The need to access further institutional
investment, vital to supporting Ian’s financings
prompted him to move his team to Bolder
Investment Partners in late 2005. The move to
Bolder proved very successful for Ian and his
team, accelerating the momentum that had been
gained at Canaccord previously. Ian served as a
Vice President of Bolder for three years.
The Long Wave Theory, in addition to a keen
sense of what constitutes a winning deal, has
enabled Ian and his team to enjoy meteoric
growth over the last decade. This success has
enabled Ian to chart the course for the next leg
of his journey.
The same Long Wave principles that have guided
Ian for the last decade are just as relevant
today as they were a decade ago. These
principles very accurately predicted the
collapse of the financial markets—a prediction
that factored heavily into Ian’s investment
strategies over the last decade. His focus now
is the next decade. Ian is focussing his
attention on using the same Long Wave principles
to help define next steps for both institutional
and retail investors.
The Long Wave Group, a company dedicated to this
pursuit has been formed, and Ian, the Long Wave
Analyst himself, is assuming the reins as
Chairman. Ian’s experience and expertise, in
addition to his infectious passion and
enthusiasm, will serve as a guiding beacon for
employees and clients alike.
