PDAC congratulates Prime Minister-elect Justin Trudeau and the Liberal Party of Canada
Toronto, October 20, 2015 -The Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada (PDAC) congratulates Prime Minister-elect Justin Trudeau and the Liberal Party of Canada on their hard-fought election victory.
“PDAC looks forward to working closely with Prime Minister-elect Justin Trudeau and his Cabinet, as well as other elected MPs, to further enhance Canadian mineral exploration and development both domestically and internationally,” says PDAC President Rod Thomas.
The Canadian minerals industry employs more than 380,000 workers and contributes approximately $54 billion to GDP annually. It is also the largest private sector employer of Aboriginal Peoples in the nation.
“During the campaign and in our conversations with The Liberal Party it was clear that they view the mining industry as a vital creator of jobs and wealth in rural, remote and urban Canada,” adds Thomas. “We look forward to further discussing matters that affect our industry, including the proposed Canada Infrastructure Bank and maintaining the Mineral Exploration Tax Credit (METC), to encourage investment in Canada.”
