PDAC calls for Board of Directors nominations
The Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada (PDAC) is now inviting nominations for its Board of Directors. The 48-member Board represents the full spectrum of professions making up the mineral industry. Directors are elected at the PDAC’s annual meeting in March and serve a three-year term. President Rod Thomas presents at 2014 Energy Mines Ministers Conference
The PDAC participated in the annual Energy & Mines Ministers Conference (EMMC), held this year in Sudbury,ON from August 24-26. PDAC President Rod Thomas, along with PDAC staff, met with numerous provincial and territorial Ministers to discuss the state of the sector and the PDAC’s recommendations to overcome the challenges the sector is currently facing.
President Thomas also presented on the state of the junior exploration sector at a closed session of the Mines Ministers. The presentation was the first time industry had been invited to present to the closed meeting of Ministers in several years. PDAC will continue its outreach to provincial, territorial and federal members of government as part of its advocacy efforts related to the 2015 federal budget.  |

Canada’s Energy and Mines Ministers announce support for revenue transparency
At the recent 2014 Energy and Mines Ministers’ Conference (EMMC), provincial and territorial governments committed to working with the federal government in support of Canada’s commitment to establish new mandatory reporting standards for Canadian extractivecompanies. The PDAC has been working to enhance transparency of payments made to governments since 2012 as part of the Resource Revenue Transparency Working Group, and looks forward to continued collaboration with the Government of Canada and its provincial and territorial counterparts on the roll-out of the regulations.

PDAC attends Roundtable on Extractives and Sustainable Development
On September 4, the PDAC participated in a Roundtable on Extractives and Sustainable Development with the Honourable Christian Paradis, Minister of International Development and La Francophonie,held in Vancouver, BC. The event focused on the challenges and opportunities in advancing responsible extractive sector development abroad, and on ensuring Canadian commitments translate into responsible resource development for inclusive economic growth and poverty reduction in developing countries.  |
