PDAC Convention 2014

New Mobile Convention Website  

Planning your time and navigating the PDAC Convention has never been easier with PDAC’s new Mobile Convention Website. The new website will launch at the end of January and will help you build your schedule, add it to your Smartphone calendar, and allow you to search, find and save the exhibitors you’d like to visit. View floor plans, presentation times, and consult with our PDAC Mobile Masters near the PDAC 2014 Registration Centre to customize your online program.

Access the new Mobile Convention Website using the free Wi-Fi service throughout the MTCC, South Building (excluding the exhibit halls).

New Badge Requirements for 2014

New this year, all convention attendees are required to register for a badge. Attendees may pre-register, or register onsite. Onsite badge pickup and the registration desks are located on Level 600 of the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, South Building. Attendees will not be permitted beyond Level 600 security without a badge. For a full list of registration passes and fees click here.

Students Prepare for the PDAC 2014 Convention

The PDAC offers a student webinar to give you an inside look at the convention, the student program, along with networking tips. PDAC 2014 Convention Travel Funding for Student Program

The PDAC has set up a Convention Travel Fund to help student groups cover the costs of getting to Toronto. Funding is allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. The deadline to apply for funding is February 14, 2014.The Convention Travel Funding form is now available online.

Students Save Money by Volunteering at the PDAC 2014 Convention

PDAC offers students a unique opportunity to volunteer their time at the convention in exchange for a complimentary All Access Student Pass, a ticket to a luncheon, food vouchers, volunteer apparel, and a volunteer certificate. For more information visit the website.

Core Magazine Named as a Finalist in Nonprofit Publication Awards

The PDAC’s new magazine, Core, which launched last spring, has been selected as a finalist for the PR News’ Nonprofit Awards in the category of External Publication or Report. The awards ceremonies will take place on February 26, 2014, in Washington D.C. at the National Press Gallery.

The Governments of Manitoba and New Brunswick have recently made significant enhancements to their mineral exploration incentive programs, as have other jurisdictions like the Yukon. PDAC Submits Proposal to Federal Government’s CSR Strategy Review

The PDAC is pleased to share its submission to the Government of Canada as part of its review of “Building the Canadian Advantage: A Corporate Social Responsibility Strategy for the International Extractive Sector”. The PDAC participated in a number of consultation sessions, and engaged regularly with the Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development throughout the review process. PDAC Attends Mining Indaba 2014

PDAC President Glenn Nolan, along with other PDAC staff, will be attending the Mining Indaba Conference in Cape Town, South Africa, in February. Emily Nunn, Manager of Corporate Social Responsibility, will be participating in a number of sessions on improving social and environmental performance in mineral exploration. Mining Matters is Hiring: Education Assistant

Mining Matters is looking for a responsible, dedicated, adventurous and self-motivated individual to join its dynamic team as an Education Assistant, Aboriginal Education and Outreach Programs. The program provides communities with hands-on learning experiences related to mineral exploration, extraction and development and related concepts within the study of earth science. 

The position is a one-year, full-time contract that is open to candidates who have an earth science, mining, or education background and who are amenable to frequent travel, often to remote locations. For more information, please click here.
