PDAC-Caracle Cup
Celebrating the Canadian love of hockey, the PDAC-Caracle Cup is an important
annual fundraising event that supports Mining Matters’ education efforts. Twelve
to sixteen teams from all facets of the minerals industry and all skill levels
participate, playing on NHL- and Olympic-size ice sheets at Canlan Ice Sports in
North York.
The event provides a great opportunity for industry networking and friendly
competition on the ice. Each year, the limited number of sponsorships sells out
quickly. If your company would like to put together a team for this annual

5th Annual Diamond in the Rough Golf Classic (2011)
No Whiffs for Mining Matters
We’ll never tell if any of our dedicated players or sponsors whiffed the ball at
the Mining Matters 5th annual Diamond in the Rough Golf Classic! Not that it
matters, because everyone was just too busy enjoying a great day of golf and
camaraderie at Woodington Lake Golf Club to worry about it. There certainly were
no whiffs for Mining Matters; we did nothing but score with the fabulous support
we received from players and sponsors. The event raised nearly $40,000, a
much-appreciated contribution toward our efforts to bring Earth science and
mineral resources to life in Canadian classrooms.
We’d like to thank all our sponsors for helping to make this fundraising event
such a remarkable success. We know many of our participants particularly enjoyed
some of the sponsored specialty touches at the individual holes, such as beer
and nuts, sangria and tapas, Irish cream, cigar and scotch, Jamaican jerk
chicken and rum punch, shrimp and Caesar cocktails, and of course, Häagen-Dazs®
ice cream. Golf is a great sport but we hope that no one played the day
intending to lose weight!
We would like to particularly recognize IBK Capital, our Diamond Sponsor, for
stepping up once again this year to lend us outstanding support. IBK Capital
consistently leads the way in helping us ace our signature fundraising event.
Mining Matters educates the public, particularly young people, through Earth
science learning tools in our public schools and public outreach activities.
Since 1994, more than 450,000 students have benefited from our award-winning
educational resources, career mentoring, and skills-building workshops for
teachers. We are grateful to all our supporters for their commitment to mineral
resources education.
Plan now to attend our 6th annual Diamond in the Rough Golf Classic on June 7,
2012. Until then, we wish no whiffs for you and “May thy ball lie in green
pastures... and not in still waters.”

Mining Matters Diamond in the Rough Golf Classic
2010
For our fourth annual Diamond in the Rough Golf Classic, held at the lovely
Woodington Lake Golf Club, the skies opened but we had player and sponsor
response that surpassed our hopes. Despite the wet weather, we felt like we’d
scored a hole in one. The event raised $45,000, a significant amount that will
help support our program development and delivery....MORE |
