Teacher Workshops

Aboriginal peoples are being increasingly recognized by Canadian resource companies for their important role in land and resources management. Mining Matters works to build this recognition by giving educators of Aboriginal youth the tools to develop their students’ knowledge of the minerals industry and highlight the many job opportunities available.

We delivered our first educational resource workshops to Aboriginal communities in north-western Ontario in 2007, visiting 11 communities, and have offered many more since. Mining Matters workshops have been offered in the following communities.

Roadside Communities: Rocky Bay, Ginoogaming, Long Lake #58, Constance Lake, Aroland, Shoal Lake #40, White Dog, Grassy Narrows

Remote Communities: Sachigo Lake,  Sandy Lake, Kee Way Win, Pikangikum, Fort Hope, Neskantaga, Webequie, Wunnumin, Kingfisher, Kasabonika, Big Trout
