Mining’s role in fostering inclusive growth in Latin America and the Caribbean

The IDB is organizing two sessions that will highlight and discuss key trends in mining with direct impact on Latin America and its development. In the morning, the conversation will focus on gender equality and whether we are really getting better at reducing gender disparities in mining. In the afternoon, we will talk more about the challenges and opportunities for the sector to foster inclusive development in the region. These dynamic sessions will be both insightful and engaging, taking the audience on a journey from the global level down to the local issues using case scenarios, data and short introductory videos from sector experts.

Session 1 -Why invest in women in mining in Latin America and the Caribbean? (9:00 - 10:45 am) with International Women in Mining
