Mining investment opportunities in the Republic of Kosovo

A presentation on Kosovo's Mining investment opportunities, considered as one of the top 10 economies worldwide with the most notable improvement in doing business reforms, as per Doing Business 2018 report, by the World Bank Group.

Kosovo has an enviable endowment of natural mineral resources. At more than 12.5 billion tons, Kosovo possesses the world’s fifth proven reserves of lignite, which supplies around 95% of the country’s overall electricity production.
Other significant minerals reserves are : lead - zinc, nickel-cobalt, magnesium, bauxite, marlstone, chromite. As well as mineral resources and occurrences of; gold, aluminium, copper, manganese, REE uranium, asbestos, halloysite, marbles and industrial minerals, etc.. Kosovo has more than 60 million ton of lead and zinc tailings with potential of metals recovery including; Au, Pb-Zn, Cd, REE etc.

As estimated by the World Bank, the majority of Kosovo's natural resources remain unused, its huge reserves are a great potential for future growth.

Presentation by the Minister of Economic Development of the Republic of Kosovo H.E Valdrin Lluka, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Diaspora and Strategic Investment H.E. Dardan Gashi, ICMM (Kosovo's Independent Commission for Mines and Minerals), Trade Commissioner of Canada to Kosovo and Canadian mining companies that are operating in Kosovo.
