Colombia Day

2018 Colombia Day

The mining sector in Colombia is oriented to the transformation of mining into a pillar of the economy, focusing on the development of a responsible, modern and efficient mining activity.

Colombia is a country with great potential for investment in mining exploration. Only 3.8% of its surface is dedicated to mining. In recent years, the potential for mineral resources has grown, which has been defined as strategic by the Ministry of Mines and Energy, especially involving gold, silver and copper.

The geological formation of the territory, located in the belt of the Andes mountain range, allows varied environments that show a highly favorable metallogenic tendency for metallic prospects and deposits, especially those containing gold and copper. In fact, Colombia is currently the fourth largest producer of gold in Latin America and 15th largest in the world. In addition, with respect to projects that will be developed in the coming years, an increase of 39% in gold production is estimated.

During ‘Colombia Day’ you will discover the country’s privileged geological potential and mining investment opportunities, and meet Colombian government representatives including those from the Ministry of Mines and Energy and the National Mining Agency.
