Monday, March 5, 2018
8:30 AM - 12:00 PM
Location: Room 206B

5th annual Invest in Canada’s North Seminar

Canada’s North is a diverse region that accounts for nearly 40 percent of Canada’s land mass and includes three northern territories —Yukon, Northwest Territories and Nunavut. The Canadian Northern Economic Development Agency through its Northern Projects Management Office, in collaboration with Global Affairs Canada and the three territorial governments, is hosting the 5th Annual Invest in Canada’s North Seminar, which will showcase the exploration and mining potential across the North.
• Following a complimentary networking breakfast, you will learn about NPMO’s role as the federal coordinator of regulatory processes in Canada’s North as well as the role of Global Affairs Canada within and outside Canada.
• A panel of Indigenous businesses and development experts will highlight the communities’ role in resource development and how collaboration with Indigenous peoples and businesses can result in successful and timely outcomes.
• Northern geoscience experts will help you understand the geological and mineral landscape in Yukon, the Northwest Territories and Nunavut as applicable to resource development projects.
• You will have an opportunity to directly hear from mining company executives, who are operating successful mines in the Arctic about the industry’s perspectives including navigating the environmental assessment process. Ask questions about their experiences and the opportunities and challenges presented when working in Canada’s North.

Senior officials from the federal and territorial governments, mining companies operating in the North, Chairs/Executive Directors of Indigenous organizations and geoscience offices from each of the three territories will be available to answer questions and network during and after the seminar.

Registration is preferred, but not required. For more information and to register, contact Manik Duggar at [email protected] or call 867-669-2594.
