Integrating diversity into the mining system: Challenges, benefits and the way forward

Diversity in the mining industry has become a highly important theme on the agenda of most conversations today. With only 15% of women in mining executive positions in Canada and 5% on the boards of mining companies, taking a strong stance on diversity and inclusion in the mining sector needs to be a focus for leadership teams across the sector. If we are going to truly modernize and innovate in mining, all levels from exploration companies to large scale producers need to be included.

This panel will look at what leading companies are doing in the diversity space and where the industry should go from here. We will also discuss the efforts and next steps that are required, as well as the types of barriers that lay ahead. Panelists will be sharing both positive and negative experiences, highlighting lessons learnt and best practices.
